Where To Find Cheap Wedding Decor

Where to find cheap wedding decor for the budget bride

Weddings are expensive. Did you know the average wedding in 2017 is $26,720?! That is A LOT of money! Whether you're paying for the wedding yourself, going through hard financial times, or just want to save a few bucks, we're here to help. We have rounded up some of the top places we have found that you can find cheap wedding decor! For more money saving tips check out this article on other ways to save money on your wedding!

Full disclosure, some of the links I have provided, I make a small commission on (at no cost to you!) when you purchase from them! However, I never advertise for products unless I love them and fully believe in them!

This is the only dollar store (that I know of) that actually has every single thing for $1! What could you possibly find at a store where everything is $1? How about glass vases, vase filler, silk flowers, picture frames, gift wrap, crafting supplies for DIY projects, travel-size products, plastic champagne flutes, a miniature sewing kit for your bridal emergency kit, and tons of other great stuff! Now I’ll be honest here, their flowers aren’t the greatest and their picture frames are pretty cheap, but for one day's use, does it really matter?

Amazon is my favorite online retailer (if you haven’t noticed that by now) and I believe I wouldn’t have been able to pull off my wedding without it! The prices are amazing and you can’t beat the two day shipping, plus returns are pretty easy if you change your mind. (Throw it back in the box, print the label, tape it up and they will come pick it up the next day!) So what can you find on Amazon? Truly, the question should be “What can’t you find on Amazon?!” I’ll just tell you a few of the things I bought for my wedding there. Mirrors for my table centerpieces, multiple different bulk candies for my candy bar, so many skin care products it’s ridiculous, his wedding band, candy bar cups for serving and scoops for serving, a new laptop when mine crashed right in the middle of planning, Invisible ring sizers so my ring would stop spinning around in all my pictures, this really cool stuff that makes fires burn rainbow colors for the bonfire that night, my entire outfit for my bridal shower, a tie and a tux for my dog/ring bearer, my wedding flats, my earrings, and so many others! The deals were too good to pass up! For more ways Amazon can help with your wedding planning click here. And for a list of awesome products to add to your wedding registry on Amazon for click here.

You’d be amazed what you can find at flea markets! Everything from champagne glasses, an antique table for your programs and guest book, old windows for backdrops--you can find pretty much anything to suit your tastes, it just depends on what you are looking for. Yes, of course, some flea markets are better than others and prices can vary from almost nothing to super expensive, but if you just find a few in your town and dedicate some time to digging through stuff and browsing, you’d be amazed at the treasures you can find!

Antique Shop

Garage sales of course are generally a spring/summer event, but sometimes you can find them year round. They are often advertised in the local newspaper, craigslist.com, and even on Facebook. You just have to look! I will tell you, this can be a fairly time-consuming process. You will have to go to a lot of garage sales to find what you’re actually looking for, so this is really only recommended if you are still in the beginning stages of planning and are more in browsing mode and don’t have set things you are looking for. There are also resale events (I’m hosting one in July!) where women who recently got married get together and sell their used wedding items to future brides! This can be a GREAT way to find discounted décor, as well as other items like wedding dresses and jewelry! I highly recommend looking to see if any of these are going on in your area. I recommend searching events in your area on Facebook (and don’t be afraid to search as far as you’d be willing to drive--the deals and amount of stuff you can find make it well worth driving!) Your own house

You’d be amazed at the awesome stuff you might already have just laying around your house! I had a multi-photo frame laying in my spare bedroom that I’d never bothered to put pictures in. I used that for our “We know you’d be here today if heaven weren’t so far away” board. Maybe you have some cool champagne flutes already sitting at your house (there are so many DIY projects to make them even cooler!). Maybe you have a bunch of scrapbook paper you never got around to using – make some cool place cards with them! The trick is to try to look at things in a different way when it comes to stuff you already own. Turn on your “DIY-brain” and start looking around. You never know what goodies you might find!

Facebook marketplace is kind of like Craigslist, but a lot simpler. You can search for items, browse items and even sell items. The two downsides to this are: a) finding wedding-related items can be a bit tricky, depending on where you live, and b) if you find something you want, you have to meet up with someone you don’t know. However, where Facebook is FAR better than Craigslist is that you can generally see who the seller is and Facebook stalk them. 😊 The answer to problem A is Facebook Groups. These are wonderful little group pages, specific to your area, specific to wedding items people are selling or looking for. Finding them is usually relatively easy, if you know what to search for. (A few of ours are called “Missouri Wedding Swap and Shop," “Missouri wedding items Buy/Sell/Swap/Rent,” and “Mid-Missouri Wedding Buy Sell/Swap.” I recommend searching Wedding + Your State (“Wedding Missouri”) or you can try your City as well. You still have to meet up with people with Facebook Groups, but at least you can Facebook stalk them first to be sure they are real people who aren't planning to mug you.
