Real GROOM: Puneet Sethi and Bride: Honey Kumari

We are doing things a bit different this time - we are featuring a GROOM instead of a Bride! This was an absolutely magical wedding in India! The colors and the clothing are simply to die for! Puneet is a wedding planner himself, which explains why his wedding was so stunning! If you'd like to check out his company DreamSmith Events, you can do so here or by following the links at the bottom of the article. If you are considering getting married in India, these pictures speak for themselves on why you might want to consider hiring Puneet!

Indian Wedding

Your name: Puneet Sethi Partner’s name: Honey Kumari Wedding date: 4th March 2017 City, State: Manesar (Delhi NCR)

Tell us more about you!

How long have you been together? 16 Months now (4 months married).

How did he propose? (Or how did you propose!) Actually it was the other way

around, Honey and I met amidst a very vulnerable time in my life. It was in the spring of April 28th, 2016 during her brother’s wedding and also the time when her dearest daddy was battling his worst illness in the hospital. My company organized her brother’s wedding so beautifully that I am humbled when guests still talk about it. It was on the last day, after her brother's last functions, in the midst of all the chaos and running around, that Honey noticed my smile, and as her arm lazily dozed off on her BFF Aditi's shoulder, she, under a light spell of alcohol, told me, with major help from her BFF, Aditi, that she really liked my smile…I said, "Thank you, Ma'am," and walked off to the start of something so whirlwind that we thought only happens in movies!!!

What was your favorite part of the wedding? Our after-parties that took place in practically anybody's hotel rooms where 20-25 people drank & danced till 6 AM on the first two days while all the parents, uncles & aunts were busy sleeping!!!

What went wrong with your wedding? That we had to pay the hotel for damages caused to the after-party rooms!!!

Did you find any tricks to save you money? Yes! Since I own a wedding planning company myself, we saved huge costs on décor and also getting good hotel rates. In general as a wedding planner, I can suggest one should hire a good wedding planner who can work as per your budgets instead of doing work for yourselves.

If you could go back and redo it, would you change anything; and if so, what would you change? I think we would not change anything since everything went smoothly and people were happy but yes, one thing that we missed was our wedding night couple pictures, which didn’t happen as the wedding party from the boys side (mine) got delayed and hence everything had to be rushed. But we plan to wear those wedding dresses again on our 1st anniversary and hopefully take some memorable shots then.

Do you have any advice for new brides? Always involve your best friends in your wedding. They are a huge support system for the bride in terms of getting her outfits, functions and jewelry organized. Choose your wedding day and other functions keeping in mind your comfort level and your personal style. Last but not the least, do not listen to too many people advising you on things leading up to the main day. It only ends up confusing you.

Did you over-plan or under-plan, or was it just right? For us, it was just right

Did any of your vendors knock your socks off? I think I had an upper edge, since it was my wedding and all vendors were trying to put 100%. Apart from that also, whenever you hire a wedding planning company, vendors should not be your worry.

Did any of your vendors disappoint? No, we were lucky I feel.

What was one (or more!) special element in your wedding that isn’t in most? The first day cricket match between Boys & Girls sides!!! (Sethi's & Kumar's)

What do you wish you’d spent more on (whether you were able to or not)? Almost everything came out as planned, apart from some additional guests on the wedding day.

Where do you feel like you could have saved money or overspent? I think photography and videography is one area where I felt was over spent on basis of the delivery and output received.

How many guests did you invite vs how many RSVP’ed vs how many actually came? Since ours was a destination wedding, we had a total of 100 guests staying and for the main wedding night, we forecasted almost 150 guests, but a whopping 250 actually turned out.
