Alternative Guestbook Ideas

alternative guestbook ideas

Guestbooks are one of those things at weddings that often get overlooked at the wedding and then forgotten about afterward. A traditional book-type guestbook will likely only get looked at once or twice after the wedding and that's about it. So, today I'm rounding up some awesome guestbook alternatives that you will actually enjoy having and WANT to look at for years to come!

We did a puzzle guestbook for our wedding. We even went one step further and had one of our engagement photos turned into a puzzle that the guests signed. We had fun reading all the puzzle pieces while we put it together after our wedding. Then we glued it together and framed it, and we will always look at it and remember how much fun our wedding was and how nice it was to put the puzzle together!

My dear friend Kassie did this for her wedding. We actually had her bachelorette party at a crafts-and-cocktails place and she made the sign for her wedding! We had so much fun at her bachelorette party making it, and then it was so cute as a guestbook! You don't have to make one if you're not artsy--you can buy one like this too!

3) Canvas Print Guestbook

Having one of your engagement pictures printed onto canvas makes such a cute guestbook! The only thing is, when you use a photo (for canvas, puzzle, etc.) you want to make sure it has enough "light space" in the photo that your guests can easily sign it! The great thing about this guestbook is that your guests can usually sign in pen or sharpie--it doesn't usually matter!

Same concept as the canvas print guestbook, but less than half the cost. Have a photo of the two of you printed and make sure you get a big enough mat and frame and have your guests sign the mat. I've seen people do these with engagement photos or even just having art in the middle. I think having a silhouette of a bride (or of the couple like pictured below) in the center would be super cute! (Check out my custom silhouettes and have one done however you want!

This one is pretty cute, especially if you haven't lived together before the wedding or just need Christmas decor for your newly married life! You can use pretty much any flat ornament that is easy to write on for this; however, this could get quite expensive so I'd probably try to find a package of cheap wood ornaments to use for it instead of buying individual ornaments. If wood isn't your ideal for ornaments, spend a few bucks on a can of spray paint and paint them your color!

My good friend Leslie recently did this for her wedding. She had 2 Polaroid cameras and 2 girls (this is an awesome job to give people who are important to you but you don't necessarily want IN the wedding!) and the girls made sure everyone had their picture taken for the guestbook by going around the room and asking. I've seen where people then have the Polaroids set on a traditional guestbook and the guests go and sign next to them, or you can have them sign the white strip at the bottom and do something else with them!
