Non-Traditional Bridal Shower Ideas
Are your bridesmaids or family insisting on throwing you a bridal shower even though you aren’t sure you want or need one?
Maybe you’ve been living together for a while and have everything you need. Maybe you just don’t like the idea of people “showering you” with gifts. Maybe you are moving soon and don't want to haul a lot of extra stuff across the country. Here are a few alternative ideas so you can still have a bridal shower, but in a less traditional way!
Lingerie Shower Instead of registering for more 'traditional' gifts why not register for some fancy lingerie?! (I do recommend registering so your guests can be sure they are getting the correct size!) You can register for lingerie on Amazon, and places like Target and Macy's.
Stock-The-Bar Shower This is a great shower idea for those who truly have everything they need (or are more interested in saving some money on the wedding!) Instead of gifts, everyone bring alcohol! You can use this to enjoy at home later or save it to stock the bar at the wedding! This could save you tons of money on the alcohol at your wedding! (Just make sure your venue doesn't require you to buy the alcohol from them before you go this route.)
Gift Card Shower Why not just register for gift cards to your favorite stores?! This one is usually a big hit with the bride -- but less so with the friends and family because it is so impersonal. Either way, it can be a great way to be sure you get stuff you want! It's also a great alternative for couples who will be moving away. You can even register on this website for gift cards to wherever you want! (For the hosts of a gift card shower, games and food become more important since there won't be a lot of "ooh-ing and aah-ing" over gifts as they are opened.)
Recipe Shower This one is pretty cute, especially if you're into cooking. Instead of a gift, the guests bring their favorite recipe to share with the bride! Consider having the back of the invitation actually be an adorable recipe card for the guests to write on and bring with them! (Another variation of this shower is to attach a gift of a small, fun kitchen gadget that could be used in the preparation of the recipe.)
Charity Shower Truly don't want or need anything? Why not help someone in need! Check out this awesome website that lets you register for up to 5 charities that you'd like your guests to donate to!
Honeymoon Shower This one can go a few ways: register for gifts you might need for your honeymoon (beach towel, sunglasses, swimsuits), things to use on your honeymoon (like the lingerie shower, but it can get a little more risque!), or even donations toward the honeymoon!
Experience Shower Why not register for experiences instead of products?! Did you know you can actually register for things like couples massages, a romantic dinner, and even snorkeling?! Check out this awesome website for yourself!
Book or Movie Shower Why not register for something specific that you love and can never have too many of? Books and movies are always good to have around! I highly recommend using Amazon for this registry because they have a HUGE selection -- and you can even register for Kindle Books if you're more into that!
